I imagine there will be a lot of things that will never be the same even long after this virus is in the rear view mirror. People were afraid to go to the store, a bank, a restaurant and countless other businesses you can bet they will all be pressured to use kiosks, and other machines to replace even more jobs which historically have be humans. And there will be a need for people to repair machines, just saying there are a lot of types of mechanics and a lot of our skills can be used in other fields. If you keep your eyes and ears open you and apply some of the lessons in TW Academy you will start seeing opportunities that may interest you more than the traditional types of mechanics we usually talk about. Yes you could very well be working on robots. Usually people think you need to be an engineer with a degree. In almost every area there are non traditional ways to get there and quite frankly the best people do not learn the traditional way. Some of the best and highest paid computer analysts were actually hackers at one time, true a proper school could have taught them a lot better theory and method but, the fact is for some reason (often financial) they did not choose the school route and they developed a different way of looking at the same problems. Think about nearly any futuristic movie, the hero’s often come from a non-traditional background which gives them an edge, a different view point. Yes the Tesla mechanics are way more trained than I am but as soon as I can get my hands on a junk Tesla you can bet I will be trying to tweak more out of them then the engineers ever thought possible like every other machine ever made eventually it works its way down to us regular mechanically inclined people who are not afraid to dream. In every situation there is always opportunity if you choose to look for it. There will be many success stories because of the virus, just as there were from the dot come or mortgage crisis, some of the happiest, wealthiest and most successful mechanics made huge leaps forward because they tend to look for solutions to problems. It is in our very nature as mechanics to make things better fix what is broke we are true survivors. Dig into the Academy lessons and learn how to hone your skill in seeing what others can not.
We are often hard on ourselves, society can even seem like it is against us Mechanics. One of my greatest achievements was in turning business owners idea of a mechanics abilities and worth from a necessary evil into a valuable team member with more to offer than almost if not any other employee. You should take comfort in the wake of a terrible crisis that is Covid-19 around the world they would talk about critical services and also around the world many types of mechanics were indeed called critical. There were a lot of higher educated higher paid people that did not receive such praise, I hope that at least brings a smile to your face. Do not be just another mechanic strive to be the best you can, work towards continued improvement, invest in yourself and reap the rewards for the rest of your life. You are as good as you tried to be, deep down we both know we both could have tried a little harder on a few things. That is the past today is today from this point on are you going to be just another mechanic or would you like more; respect, gratitude, freedom, money it really is you choice. No matter the genre of mechanic or your abilities it is obvious we can all be better it is up to you how much better revisit the Academy with an open mind a different perspective and you will learn something new you can not control everything but you can control how you react to it.
